Stock market update: Nifty Auto index falls 0.49% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index traded negative around 11:11AM(IST)on Wednesday in a weak market.

Ashok Leyland Ltd.(up 0.72 per cent), Exide Industries Ltd.(up 0.45 per cent), Tata Motors Ltd.(up 0.21 per cent) and TVS Motor Company Ltd.(up 0.18 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Bosch Ltd.(down 3.45 per cent), MRF Ltd.(down 1.11 per cent), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.05 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.02 per cent) and Balkrishna Industries Ltd.(down 0.41 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty Auto index was down 0.49 per cent at 23480.75 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 54.25 points at 24771.95, while the BSE Sensex was down 163.48 points at 81388.15.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 15 were trading in the green, while 35 were in the red.

Shares of ITC, Vodafone Idea, Belrise Industries, IFCI and Sagility India were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Bharti Hexacom, Mahamaya Steel, Kavita Fabrics, Suven Life Sci and ABB Power hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Orchid Pharma, Tantia Const, Borana Weaves, NIIT Learning System and Silly Monks Entertainment hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
