The newly-designed FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is set to commence this month - from June 14 to July 13 - across 12 stadiums in 11 cities of the United States, marking a significant transformation in the tournament's structure.
This revamped competition will serve as a preliminary test for the 2026 World Cup, featuring an unprecedented 32-team format. The participating clubs, predominantly champions from their respective continental competitions in men's football, will compete in a structure similar to the 2023 World Cup.
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami are set to play in the opening match, which will see the MLS contenders take on Egyptian club Al-Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The final will be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where the tournament will conclude on July 13.
The American contingent includes Inter Miami, featuring Lionel Messi, alongside LAFC (who secured their position through a thrilling last-minute qualification) and the Seattle Sounders. These teams face stiff competition from European powerhouses, including the recent Champions League victors Paris Saint-Germain, English clubs Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as established European forces Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Juventus.
CLUB WORLD CUP: GROUPS
The teams have been divided into eight groups containing four teams each.
