Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 11:21AM

Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(up 4.03%), KIOCL Ltd.(up 3.60%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(up 2.70%), Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(up 1.22%), MOIL Ltd.(up 1.20%) and Aro Granite Industries Ltd.(up 0.11%) were among the top gainers.

Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(down 1.53%), NMDC Ltd.(down 1.41%), 20 Microns Ltd.(down 1.13%), Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(down 0.94%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 0.83%), Coal India Ltd.(down 0.57%), Pokarna Ltd.(down 0.24%) and Ashapura Minechem Ltd.(down 0.17%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 47.16 points down at 24779.05, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 166.77 points at 81384.86 at around 11:21AM.

Bharat Electronics Ltd.(up 1.52%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 0.92%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 0.86%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.81%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(up 0.73%), Jio Financial Services Ltd.(up 0.62%), State Bank of India(up 0.47%), Axis Bank Ltd.(up 0.47%), NTPC Ltd.(up 0.4%) and ICICI Bank Ltd.(up 0.39%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, ITC Ltd.(down 3.04%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 1.74%), Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.38%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(down 1.3%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.16%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.09%), JSW Steel Ltd.(down 0.99%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 0.95%), Asian Paints Ltd.(down 0.93%) and Grasim Industries Ltd.(down 0.66%) were trading in the red.
