Maharashtra’s government has launched an inquiry into stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, scrutinising his call records and financial transactions following a joke about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The controversy erupted after Kamra referred to Shinde as a "gaddar" (traitor) during a Mumbai performance, triggering backlash from Shiv Sena supporters. Amid political allegations, venue vandalism, and arrests, the debate has deepened over free speech and political satire. The case has reignited Maharashtra’s fraught political tensions and the ongoing battle over the legacy of Shiv Sena.

He urged patience and responsibility from the government and community leaders.

BJP won due to vote division, says TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee

"I think BJP will not return to power if seats sharing is finalised early after a proper consensus," Banerjee said in Kolkata on Monday. BJP wins in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh were not impressive as margins were slim, she said. "BJP won more seats than Congress in Rajasthan because of split in votes. This is a victory due to division of votes. Victory is a combination of strategy, ideology and field work. Those who have been defeated, should learn a lesson and make amends. They should work for the people together. The future of all parties will be decided by the people and not by any leader or a party," Banerjee said.

Pawar and eight other MLAs were sworn in last Sunday, but the portfolios were still not allotted as there was anger in the Shiv Sena camp over the NCP's induction into the government.
