Third Eye: NDA CMs' group photo timing shift to Chandrababu Naidu's succession signal

    Synopsis

The NDA chief ministers' meeting saw a change in the group photograph timing after Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu's absence was confirmed. Meanwhile, Naidu's Telugu Desam Party is set to hold its annual Mahanadu in Kadapa, a politically significant move.

Group Photograph Timing Changed After Plan Tweak
Group Photograph Timing Changed After Plan Tweak: During the NDA chief ministers' meeting on Sunday, it was decided to take a group photograph in the evening. Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu had left for Vijayawada on Saturday to attend a family programme after the Niti Ayog meeting and was expected to join the meeting in the afternoon. Once it was confirmed that Naidu won't come back, the group photograph timings were changed and everyone, including Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, was captured in a single frame.

Succession Signal and A Political Messaging: N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party is holding its annual conclave Mahanadu starting Tuesday. As far as optics go, the messaging is sharply political. This is the first conclave since TDP came to power and Naidu has decided to hold it in Kadapa — bête noire YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bastion. If rumours are to be believed, Naidu might just choose this conclave to anoint his son and minister Nara Lokesh as a working president, signalling a clear succession plan.
