Akshay Kumar’s new film Housefull 5 released on June 6 across 5,000 screens in India. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the movie offers a unique viewing experience with two versions of the climax, titled Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B. Both versions are playing simultaneously in multiplexes, aiming to attract audiences with their distinct endings.

What are Housefull 5A and 5B?

Housefull 5 is a murder mystery set on a cruise ship. The plot revolves around a wealthy billionaire, played by Ranjeet, who is murdered after announcing he will leave his fortune to his successor named Jolly. The twist is there are three characters named Jolly, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan. All three, along with their girlfriends (Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, and Nargis Fakhri), are suspects in the murder. The film’s first two hours are the same in both versions, but the last 20 minutes differ, revealing different killers.

Distributors have allocated almost equal screens for both versions. Most multiplexes run two shows per screen for each version, while extra shows are given to Thug Life, starring Kamal Haasan, which also released this weekend.
