Tom Felton is set to make his Broadway debut by reprising his iconic role as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. This marks the first time an original cast member from the Harry Potter films has joined the stage adaptation. Felton, who portrayed Draco Malfoy throughout all eight Harry Potter films from 2001 to 2011, expressed deep emotional connection to returning to the role. He described the experience as a “full-circle moment,” noting that he is now the same age as Draco in the play. Felton shared that he became emotional when trying on Draco’s iconic platinum wig again, stating, “I cried”

This will be the first time a member of the original Harry Potter film cast has joined the stage production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which tells a new story that takes place 19 years after the end of the original series. Draco, now a father, along with Harry, Ron and Hermione are all grown up and sending their own children off to Hogwarts.

In a statement, Tom Felton said, “Being a part of the Harry Potter films has been one of the greatest honours of my life. Joining this production will be a full-circle moment for me, because when I begin performances in Cursed Child this fall, I’ll also be the exact age Draco is in the play. It’s surreal to be stepping back into his shoes – and of course his iconic platinum blond hair – and I am thrilled to be able to see his story through and to share it with the greatest fan community in the world. I look forward to joining this incredible company and being a part of the Broadway community.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender shared, “Tom Felton’s portrayal of young Draco Malfoy left a lasting mark on Harry Potter fans worldwide. Draco became one of the series’ most complex characters—not just a rival to Harry, but a reflection of parental pressure, inner turmoil, and reluctant vulnerability. His evolution has come to represent the idea that we can grow beyond the beliefs and choices we inherit.
