It’s been eight years since the last Pirates of the Caribbean film, but Orlando Bloom remains optimistic about the franchise’s future. According to Collider, Bloom addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Will Turner during an appearance on ITV’s This Morning while promoting his new project, Deep Cover. The Lord of the Rings actor shared his hopes—not just for his own return, but for a reunion of the entire original cast.

Orlando Bloom to return in New Pirates of the Caribbean?

Orlando Bloom has reignited buzz about a possible Pirates of the Caribbean 6, sparking excitement among fans of Disney’s beloved swashbuckling saga, reports My Big Plunge. The actor—widely recognized for his roles in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean—hinted at a reunion, saying, “I personally think it would be great to get the band back together.”

Although he stopped short of confirming anything, Bloom’s comments have stirred online speculation about the franchise’s future. The series hasn’t seen a new installment since 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales. When asked directly, Bloom remained coy: “Who knows? I can’t say anything at the moment because I really don’t know. They’re trying to work out what it would all look like.”

His remarks echo those of longtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer, who previously told ComicBook.com that a reboot is still in the works. Bruckheimer noted that Pirates is easier to revive than some other blockbuster franchises, since it doesn’t hinge on the availability of any one actor.

When Orlando Bloom talks about getting "the band back together," he likely means reuniting with his Pirates of the Caribbean co-stars Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp.

Of the trio, Depp remains the biggest uncertainty. Studios have continued to tread carefully around the actor due to his controversial public image, and Depp himself once declared he wouldn’t work with Disney again—not even “for $300 million and a million alpacas.” Still, in Hollywood, few things are truly off the table. Given that the Pirates franchise has raked in $4.5 billion worldwide across five films, Disney certainly has incentive to consider a revival.

Depp starred in all five movies, while Bloom and Knightley were absent from the fourth installment, On Stranger Tides, and only made brief appearances in the fifth, Dead Men Tell No Tales.

Bloom, however, is no stranger to epic returns. He famously came back as Legolas in The Hobbit trilogy after his run in The Lord of the Rings—so another return to Pirates isn’t out of the question.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum" is set to be released December 17, 2027, and Bloom could very well be one of the franchise favorites to return along with Andy Serkis.
